97: Eadweard (2015) with David Kaye
How do you make the story of the godfather of cinema interesting? Why add naked people and murder of course! This week, we're joined by actor and producer David Kaye as we explore the appropriately visually stunning Eadweard from 2015. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, David Kaye was bit with the acting bug at a young age, and with passion and hard-work, has made a name for himself in all facets of the film and television industry. On March 29th, David can be seen as Jerry in Freeform’s drama mystery-thriller series about sexy, scary mermaids "Siren".
David has been steadily booking roles since the age of four, when he was spotted by an agent at the Film Expo in 1993 and booked his first role in the Brad Pitt feature, LEGENDS OF THE FALL.
Since then, David has appeared in the films 3000 MILES TO GRACELAND, MXP: MOST XTREME PRIMATE and SUPERBABIES: BABY GENIUSES 2.
On television, David appeared on Fox’s "Dark Angel" and The CW’s hit series’ "Arrow" and "Supernatural".
As a voice actor, David’s voice can be heard in numerous animated series including PBS Kids "Make Way for Noddy", Japan’s popular Anime series "Nana", Netflix’s "Beyblade Burst", Discovery Family’s "Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch", Disney XD’s "Slugterra", Kids WB’s "X-Men: Evolution", Cartoon Network’s "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" and "Firehouse Tales".
In 2008, David co-founded his own boutique film and TV production company, Whiskaye Films, alongside fellow actor and Director of Development for Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures, Jameson Parker.
In 2011, David teamed up with Director Adam Bogoch to produce a semi -autobiographical short film about Alzheimer’s disease entitled EYE OF THE BEHOLDER written by Vanessa Parent, The film screened at several festivals and won the audience choice award at the Toronto Underground Film Festival. In
2013, David partnered with North of Now Films Inc. and has been working alongside Tyler Funk, producing web commercials and branded content for companies such as AT&T, Chevrolet, Ford, SanDisk, Axe, and Bud Light to name a few.
In 2015, Whiskaye Films teamed up with North of Now and brought "White Ninja", a then-defunct webcomic back to life in the form of an animated web series. The series garnered 30 million views and attracted over 70,000 followers in its first season.
At the same time, Whiskaye Films started producing the company’s first feature film, PRODIGALS. David continues to produce projects with Whiskaye Films and can be seen as Jerry in Freeform’s new series about bloodthirsty mythical creatures, "Siren".
