129.5: Invisible Essence: The Little Prince (2018) an interview with Charles Officer
This week, Becky sits down with filmmaker Charles Officer to talk about his newest film Invisible Essence: The Little Prince which will be screening at the HotDocs theatre in Toronto this Friday March 8th. He’ll be in attendance with a Q&A and after hearing this interview, you’ll probably have a ton of questions for him too.
Invisible Essence: The Little Prince tackles its subject from different angles, with footage from various film versions (live-action and stop-action animated), academic insights from scholars and archivists who’ve devoted their lives to Saint-Exupéry and his message, and – most poignantly – as it applies today. It’s so beautiful that even if you’re not familiar with the book, it’s sure to inspire some thoughtful discussions in your own life.
We do mention the Leaving Neverland documentary briefly, discuss the role adults can have in children’s lives, as well as topics like suicide, so this may present a mild trigger for some listeners.
You can check out Invisible Essence: The Little Prince through a number of sources - in the US on Netflix, and on the documentary channel in Canada.
