145.5: Sorry for Your Loss (2019) an interview with Collin Friesen

This week, Becky sits down with writer director Collin Friesen to talk about his new comedy Sorry for your Loss.

The film follows new father Ken, played by Justin Bartha, as he goes home to Winnipeg for his fathers funeral and discovers the unique provisions in his father’s will. It’s dry, silly, and has a great performance from it’s stacked cast - like Bruce Greenwood, Kevin McDonald, and Lolita Davidovich.

Collin Friesen is a funny guy with a lot of great stories and a history of working in film and television both in Canada and down in the states. He worked as a story editor on Schitt’s Creek, and wrote a number of screenplays for feature films - including The Big White with Robin Williams, Holly Hunter and Giovanni Ribisi. Sorry for your loss is his debut feature as a writer/director.

You can catch the movie in Toronto at the Carlton Cinema May 31st and in Winnipeg June 10th-14th at the Landmark Cinemas Towne Cinema 8, on Showtime in the US, and soon on a streaming service where ever you are!
