148.5 The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir (2019) an interview with Ken Scott
This week, Becky sits down with Quebecois filmmaker Ken Scott to talk about his new movie The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir.
Full disclosure, this movie is a French, Indian, Belgian, Singaporean, US co-pro - Not Canadian, but Becky couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk to the writer director of Starbuck and the original The Grand Seduction (Don’t worry, we get some great stories about those movies in here). We’ve talked before about how Ken’s comedy stylings transcend national boarders, and why that makes him the perfect fit for this globe trotting comedy.
Based on the novel “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe” by Romain Puértolas, the movie follows A hustler from Mumbai as he embarks on an extraordinary voyage across Europe in search of his estranged father…and ends up on a whimsical journey across the Europe trying to get back to a woman he met and connected briefly with at an Ikea. There’s a hot air balloon involved.
The movie opens in select theatres across Canada this Friday June 21st 2019. Check your local cineplex listings for details. It will be on Streaming services globally soon after that.
