146: The Best Damn Fiddler from Calabogie to Kaladar (1969) with Terrance Odette

This week, Becky and Cam have filmmaker and theatre owner Terrance Odette on the show to talk about the 1969 NFB fictional film, The Best Damn Fiddler from Calabogie to Kaladar. We talked about Terrance’s fantastic film Heater on the podcast a few weeks ago with Gavin Michael Booth, and you can certainly see the influence this film had on his work.

We can’t recommend this movie enough. Aside from the fact that it’s Margot Kidder’s first role, it was part of an innovative NFB program to film movies in rarely seen communities, and it’s a beautiful watch.

You can watch the full movie for free, thanks to the NFB! And make sure to check out Heater streaming on Amazon Prime. It’s great too.
