5: Dead Ringers (1989) with Jerrica Lala

Popular Parallax Podcast host Jerrica Lala joins Becky and Cam to discuss the 1989 Toronto set-and-filmed Cronenberg classic Dead Ringers. Find out what Canadian handshake deal went down during this film, how Jeremy Irons approached playing the role of creepy, creepy twins, and what other Canadian actress was meant to be in this film. Body horror and identity crisis abound!

This is a movie about gynaecologists. We say the word vagina a lot.

On this week's show

Jerrica Lala started dabbling in terrestrial radio at the tender age of four as a guest star on her father's Christmas special. When she grew up, she became entrenched in the guts of the theatre (TEE-A-TA) and has directed multiple indie theatre projects that often explore the nature of identity and reality. She's also a massive (literally and figuratively) pop-culture freak. Favourites include Star Trek: TNG, Blade Runner, Avatar (the animated series), Star Wars IV, V, and VI, Jessica Jones, Jem and the Holograms, and Sailor Moon. You can hear Jerrica the first Tuesday of every month on the podcast The Popular Parallax.
